| NASA to outsource space travel? | | Outsourcing is one of the great ideas of this age. Competition fueled outsourcing to be one of the prime business strategies for companies to survive and stay in the marketplace. The global economy is pushing everyone to consider the concept, even the US government. The Augustine commission suggested that NASA's space travel be handled by a private entity. It means that the manufacture of spacecrafts and astronaut's space flight would be outsourced. The aim is to relieve NASA of doing space flight and concentrate on research and study earth with better satellites.Judging on what the government is doing right now, it is evident that it has began it's plan. After the Columbia accident of 2003, NASA paid Russia to use Soyuz in bringing the astronauts to the International space station. THAT IS OUTSOURCING.The cargo transport function of the space shuttle was awarded to SpaceX. It is a $1.6 billion contract of 12 flights to the International space station. TAHT IS OUTSOURCING.Regards[em]lol[/em]

| Do you have an interest in the future of space travel? Will we live on Mars? | | I'm no expert when it comes to all things space related! However, I like the idea that someday, colonising other planets may well become a real possibility. Let's face it, our good old mother Earth isn't going to be around forever, another billion years left perhaps so, if the human race is to survive then we are going to have to move to another planet. I think that some of those science fiction movies are no longer science fiction; they are becoming science fact! The space station is continuing to be built and I guess that will act as a launch pad in years to come. There's also talk of some kind of moon base. To get out there into deep space, this is now a necessity! Whatever happens, none of this is probably going to be within my life time, sad but true! What do you think? I envy the babies coming into the world many years from now!! Andrew | |
| | Which Batteries for space travel? | | Just an odd question - which type of battery do they use in space (lithium, alkali, etc)? Also, if anyone knows... which kind of battery keeps their charge the longest? Has the most juice?Thank you for your indulgance...~OutSideIn | |

| space travel.....whats your idea bout it?? | | I just love the idea man and i think it will be a wonderfull experience to got to a place such that....it will be like seeing the whole world at once...What do you think??? | |
| | Space Travel | | I want your opinion. How soon do you think it will be possible, to take a vacation in an outerspace hotel? | |

| Space travel, worth it? | | Do you think we should have the space program? We spend millions of dollars a year to explore space but why? Out of curiosity? Looking for a new place to live once we trashed Earth? Here on Earth people starve to death every day. Others can't afford life saving surgeries. People lie on the streets because they can't afford houses.
People all over the world suffer for lack of money, and we waste it on space programs.Do you think it's worth the money? So we spend the money when others need it worse?

| | If space travel were widly available would you be interested? | | If it were widely AND affordable to the general public would you be interested in traveling to the moon or any other planet for that matter? And if we did have buildings available where we could live in them would you move to the Moon, Mars, Venus or any other planet or would you rather stay here on Earth, and why?Personally space travel holds no interest for me, I have a hard enough time keeping my feet firmly planted on the ground here on Earth! | |

| Concentrating on Space Travel...in case of 2012 | | I know that 2012 is 5 years away, and there's been some scare news about how it's the end of the world, everyone's dying, the Mayan calendar's ending on Dec. 21, the arrival of Planet Nibiru a.k.a. Planet X, all of that Nostradamus-y stuff. Also, currently the governments of the world are spending billions and billions of the taxpayers' money on the War on Terror.Well i've had a brief thought for a minute...If 2012's cataclysm sounds very serious, then shouldn't we put the War on Terror on hold for a while and divert some of that money to concentrate on space travel and intergalactic transportation instead? Because if 2012 is real, shouldn't we concentrate our time and money on something that can help humanity make like a tree and leave before the tree gets blown down? Shouldn't we focus our time, energy and money on something that can save humanity from this hellish nightmare of 2012? Because by now we should've created new technologies that will help us boldly go where no man has gone before. | |
